Gift exchange ideas

I am trying to get a hang of the idea of painting for someone else.
So, I have been commission to paint for a customer.

This mug is for a office gift exchange.
As you can see, it's for Tasha.

Why apple?
Well, she recently came back from holidays and announced that she is engaged.
She was proposed to on top of the Empire State Building in New York.
So, it's the BIG Apple design.
How corny!

Animals, animals, animals

Practice makes perfect.

I painted a similar bowl earlier this year. I was not too happy with the results.
This is my second attempt. It's looks much better this time.
I might do a matching spoon later and with a pair of chopsticks, will complete the set.

Balik kampung

(means "return to hometown" in Malay language)

This piece is inspired by sceneries of paddy fields and countryside from a plane.
I love pictures with lots of child-like imagination and paint strokes in them.

Fruity casserole

Believe it or not, this bowl below used to have banana-inspired patterns (leaf and tree). After Day 1 of painting, I found myself trying to salvage my poor piece by covering mistakes with more coats of paint.

On Friday evening (left with no internet lifeline and a lot of time to spare), I scraped the paint out and started all over again. It's a pity I didn't take a picture of what it look like before the facelift. Before, it was really ghastly-looking. This is definitely a remarkable change.
